A UK company recently revealed the results of a top secret project it's been working on for the past four years: a synthetic fuel that could cause gas prices to plunge to $1.50 per gallon.

Developed at the prestigious Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford, Cella Energy CEO Stephen Voller claims that his company's hydrogen-based fuel produces no carbon emissions when burned, and could be the first step toward a transportation market that's unaffected by unstable oil prices.

"We have developed new micro-beads that can be used in an existing gasoline or petrol vehicle to replace oil-based fuels," Voller told Gizmag. "Early indications are that the micro-beads can be used in existing vehicles without engine modification."

If Cella Energy is able to produce this gas alternative on a commercial scale, it could be the missing link millions have been waiting for to help ease the pain of transition away from a fossil fuel-based economy.

Hydrogen, which produces only pure water when burned, is considered an ideal solution to cutting carbon emissions from petrol, which are estimated to cause 25 per cent of all carbon release. Until now, attempts to store it have not been consumer friendly so this has not been a viable option.

Currently "the only way to pack it [hydrogen] into a vehicle is to use very high pressures or very low temperatures, both of which are expensive to do. Our new hydrogen storage materials offer real potential for running cars, planes and other vehicles that currently use hydrocarbons on hydrogen, with little extra cost and no extra inconvenience to the driver", said Professor Stephen Bennington, lead scientist on the project for the UK's Science and Technology Facilities Council.

Not that the mainstream media is all of a sudden turning their backs on the financial giants that are pumping billions of dollars into them. But the truth is that we are starting to see just a little bit more honest reporting about health issues from the mainstream media these days.

#1 High Levels Of Fluoride In Our Drinking Water Is Bad – Amazingly, the U.S. federal government has now come out and is lowering the “recommended amount” of fluoride in our drinking water for the first time in 50 years. Of course it would be great if they just banned fluoride in our drinking water altogether, but for the government to even admit that high levels of fluoride could be a problem is a huge step. In a recent article on CNN, it was reported that the federal government is now saying that high levels of fluoride in the water has now officially been linked with fluorosis….

The Department of Health and Human Services and Environmental Protection Agency are proposing the change because of an increase in fluorosis — a condition that causes spotting and streaking on children’s teeth.

#2 Once We Allowed Genetically Modified Crops To Be Used They Would Spread Everywhere – For years, many of us have been trying to warn people that genetically modified crops are incredibly dangerous. Now, a very prominent newspaper in the UK is admitting that a very specific insecticide that is grown inside of genetically modified corn is rapidly getting into the water of the surrounding environment….

The insecticide is the product of a bacterial gene inserted into GM maize and other cereal crops to protect them against insects such as the European corn borer beetle. Scientists have detected the insecticide in a significant number of streams draining the great corn belt of the American mid-West.

#3 There Are Pharmaceutical Drugs And Cancer Causing Chemicals In Our Drinking Water – Over the past couple of years, the mainstream media has actually begun reporting on all of the nasty things that are now showing up in our water. For example, do you remember a highly carcinogenic chemical known as “hexavalent chromium” that was made famous by the movie Erin Brockovich? Well, just a few weeks ago the Washington Post reported that high levels of it has been found in the drinking water of 31 U.S. cities….

An environmental group that analyzed the drinking water in 35 cities across the United States, including Bethesda and Washington, found that most contained hexavalent chromium, a probable carcinogen that was made famous by the film “Erin Brockovich.”

But not only is there hexavalent chromium in our drinking water, the truth is that there are thousands of other chemicals and prescription drugs in our water supply as a Time Magazine article from a few months ago described….

All told, there are about 3,000 prescription pharmaceuticals in use in the U.S. and thousands more over-the-counter drugs, not to mention creams and ointments we smear on and then shower off. “Between cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other sources,” says John Spatz, commissioner of Chicago’s department of water management, “there are 80,000 potential combinations of chemicals.” It’s impossible to keep our drinking supply safe from a gusher like that.

#4 Cell Phones Are Linked To Cancer – The mainstream media is not quite ready to come out and openly declare that cell phones cause cancer, but at least now they are beginning to report on the results of some very disturbing studies that seem to suggest a link between the two. At the highest exposure levels — using a mobile phone half an hour a day over a 10-year period — the study found a 40 percent increased risk of glioma brain tumors.

#5 Bisphenol -A (BPA) Is Linked To Male Infertility – For years, many “conspiracy theorists” have been yelling and screaming that a chemical known as bisphenol-A that is found in thousands of plastic products is actually really, really bad for us. Well, now some in the mainstream media are starting to jump on board. Back in October, one of the largest UK newspapers published an article entitled “Bisphenol-A now linked to male infertility” which made the following unequivocal statement about the dangers of BPA….

Bisphenol-A (BPA), known as the “gender bending” chemical because of its connection to male impotence, has now been shown to decrease sperm mobility and quality.

#6 Prescription Drugs Kill Large Numbers Of Americans Every Single Year – For years, alternative health practitioners and “conspiracy theorists” have been asserting that bad reactions to prescription drugs are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Well, the mainstream media is starting to catch up. A recent Vanity Fair article entitled “Deadly Medicine” began with the following statement….

Prescription drugs kill some 200,000 Americans every year. Will that number go up, now that most clinical trials are conducted overseas—on sick Russians, homeless Poles, and slum-dwelling Chinese—in places where regulation is virtually nonexistent, the F.D.A. doesn’t reach, and “mistakes” can end up in pauper’s graves?

#7 Aspartame Is Not Good For Our Health – Many mainstream news outlets are beginning to wake up to the fact that the artificial sweetener aspartame may not actually be healthy for us. This past summer, the Huffington Post (which is usually very “mainstream”) allowed Dr. Joseph Mercola to author an article about aspartame that began with the following absolutely stunning paragraph….

Aspartame is the most controversial food additive in history, and its approval for use in food was the most contested in FDA history. In the end, the artificial sweetener was approved, not on scientific grounds, but rather because of strong political and financial pressure. After all, aspartame was previously listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent!

#8 Many Among The Global Elite (Such As Ted Turner) Want To Institute A Global One-Child Policy And Want To Reduce The World Population For The Good Of The Environment – Many Americans have a really, really hard time believing that some of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the world actually want to institute a global one-child policy and are obsessed with reducing the population of the earth. But sadly, as I have written about previously, this is very, very real. The following is how one major Canadian newspaper summarized public remarks that Ted Turner recently made about the global population….

Mr. Turner – a long-time advocate of population control – said the environmental stress on the Earth requires radical solutions, suggesting countries should follow China’s lead in instituting a one-child policy to reduce global population over time. He added that fertility rights could be sold so that poor people could profit from their decision not to reproduce.

Sadly, on other health issues the mainstream media continues to push the establishment agenda very strongly. For example, the mainstream media is absolutely rabid about defending the safety of vaccines.

But hopefully as the alternative media continues to tell the truth about these various health issues it will cause the American public to demand more balanced reporting from the mainstream media.

After all, it is only the health of millions upon millions of Americans that is at stake. When it comes to matters of life and death, you would think that it would not be too much to ask for a little honest reporting.

Evolution has no intelligence. It is totally dumb. It does not evaluate, plan, organize or have the ability to intentionally change something based on information of any sort. For evolution to create a sophisticated program powerful enough to run a human being is absolutely astounding for intelligent scientists to even consider it. It is absolutely impossible aside from God.

"To produce DNA, it requires over 75 different types of proteins. Yet DNA is essential for creating proteins." A Question of Origins video Did you see that!!! Proteins are required to make DNA and DNA is required to make proteins. Both extremely complicated systems are necessary at the same time and must be fully functioning in order to create the other.

DNA is like the information on a CD-ROM. Proteins are like the plastic CD-ROM. RNA is like the CD-ROM drive. In order for DNA to evolve and be useful it requires the DNA (complex information), several proteins (Plastic CD-ROM) and the RNA (the CD-ROM drive) for this program to have a chance to work. However, neither DNA, RNA or Protein would evolve by natural selection because they require the existence of the other systems. Evolution is hopelessly inadequate for producing DNA, not to mention the absolutely astounding complexity of a single cell.

So....the question remains....How did we get here??

This is a different kind of posting for me because I am posting multiple videos in one post. I feel it is important to sometimes connect the dots to give a clearer picture of what things are going on under the radar (pardon the pun, you will understand that later)

The world we live in is a world of energy. It's all around us as people like Nikola Tesla tried to tell us. He envisioned a world of limitless and wireless power drawn from our natural surroundings. He also saw the dark side of how his knowledge could be used if it fell in the wrong hands.....Military hands....to be used against people instead of for them. One avenue of his thinking was that all energy were wave forms of differing length and could be utilized for everything.....from an unlimited source of energy to, lifting and moving extreme weights (think pyramids and Coral Castle) and there is a growing body of evidence that these principles can also be utilized for more sinister reasons such as weather control, mind control and even as far as creating earthquakes. There are events that just don't have explanations that are really plausible unless you include the possibility of these things being real.

I want to state for the record that these issues were not created by Obama.....(but the picture IS funny) it is the culmination of 60 years of bad governance. It is not the fault of only one party or the other.....it is a systemic problem.....the system has been corrupted by big business and "special interest groups" (which is another name for big business) and the millions of dollars they add to the coffers of EVERY SENATOR AND CONGRESSMAN in Washington. There is NO ONE they cannot influence in some way with the money or "things" they are willing to provide.

CHANGES ARE COMING ----

Whether these changes are good or bad depends in part on how we adapt to them. But, ready or not, here they come

1. The Post Office. Get ready to imagine a world without the post office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. Email, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the post office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills.

2. The Check. Britain is already laying the groundwork to do away with checks by 2018. It costs the financial system billions of dollars a year to process checks. Plastic cards and online transactions will lead to the eventual demise of the check. This plays right into the death of the post office. If you never paid your bills by mail and never received them by mail, the post office would absolutely go out of business.

3. The Newspaper. The younger generation simply doesn't read the newspaper. They certainly don't subscribe to a daily delivered print edition. That may go the way of the milkman and the laundry man. As for reading the paper online, get ready to pay for it. The rise in mobile Internet devices and e-readers has caused all the newspaper and magazine publishers to form an alliance. They have met with Apple, Amazon, and the major cell phone companies to develop a model for paid subscription services.

4. The Book. You say you will never give up the physical book that you hold in your hand and turn the literal pages. I said the same thing about downloading music fromiTunes. I wanted my hard copy CD. But I quickly changed my mind when I discovered that I could get albums for half the price without ever leaving home to get the latest music. The same thing will happen with books. You can browse a bookstore online and even read a preview chapter before you buy. And the price is less than half that of a real book. And think of the convenience! Once you start flicking your fingers on the screen instead of the book, you find that you are lost in the story, can't wait to see what happens next, and you forget that you're holding a gadget instead of a book.

5. The Land Line Telephone. Unless you have a large family and make a lot of local calls, you don't need it anymore. Most people keep it simply because they've always had it. But you are paying double charges for that extra service. All the cell phone companies will let you call customers using the same cell provider for no charge against your minutes.

6. Music. This is one of the saddest parts of the change story. The music industry is dying a slow death. Not just because of illegal downloading. It's the lack of innovative new music being given a chance to get to the people who would like to hear it. Greed and corruption is the problem. The record labels and the radio conglomerates are simply self-destructing. Over 40% of the music purchased today is "catalog items," meaning traditional music that the public is familiar with. Older established artists. This is also true on the live concert circuit. 7. Television. Revenues to the networks are down dramatically. Not just because of the economy. People are watching TV and movies streamed from their computers. And they're playing games and doing lots of other things that take up the time that used to be spent watching TV. Prime time shows have degenerated down to lower than the lowest common denominator. Cable rates are skyrocketing and commercials run about every 4 minutes and 30 seconds. I say good riddance to most of it. It's time for the cable companies to be put out of our misery. Let the people choose what they want to watch online and through Netflix.

8. The "Things" That You Own. Many of the very possessions that we used to own are still in our lives, but we may not actually own them in the future. They may simply reside in "the cloud." Today your computer has a hard drive and you store your pictures, music, movies, and documents. Your software is on a CD or DVD, and you can always re-install it if need be. But all of that is changing. Apple, Microsoft, and Google are all finishing up their latest "cloud services." That means that when you turn on a computer, the Internet will be built into the operating system. So, Windows, Google, and the Mac OS will be tied straight into the Internet. If you click an icon, it will open something in the Internet cloud. If you save something, it will be saved to the cloud. And you may pay a monthly subscription fee to the cloud provider. In this virtual world, you can access your music or your books, or your whatever from any laptop or handheld device. That's the good news. But, will you actually own any of this "stuff" or will it all be able to disappear at any moment in a big "Poof?" Will most of the things in our lives be disposable and whimsical? It makes you want to run to the closet and pull out that photo album, grab a book from the shelf, or open up a CD case and pull out the insert.

9. Privacy. If there ever was a concept that we can look back on nostalgically, it would be privacy. That's gone. It's been gone for a long time anyway. There are cameras on the street, in most of the buildings, and even built into your computer and cell phone. But you can be sure that 24/7, "They" know who you are and where you are, right down to the GPS coordinates, and the Google Street View. If you buy something, your habit is put into a zillion profiles, and your ads will change to reflect those habits. And "They" will try to get you to buy something else. Again and again.

All we will have that can't be changed are Memories.

Any great nation throughout history has been great at making things. So if the United States continues to allow its manufacturing base to erode at a staggering pace how in the world can the U.S. continue to consider itself to be a great nation? We have created the biggest debt bubble in the history of the world in an effort to maintain a very high standard of living, but the current state of affairs is not anywhere close to sustainable. Every single month America goes into more debt and every single month America gets poorer.

A new study published in Nature Reviews-Cancer provides an historic and detailed explanation about how THC and natural cannabinoids counteract cancer, but preserve normal cells.

The study by Manuel Guzmán of Madrid Spain found that cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals. They do so by modulating key cell-signalling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and death of tumor cells, as well as by inhibiting the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumor.

The Guzman study is very important according to Dr. Ethan Russo , a neurologist and world authority on medical cannabis: “Cancer occurs because cells become immortalized; they fail to heed normal signals to turn off growth. A normal function of remodelling in the body requires that cells die on cue. This is called apoptosis, or programmed cell death. That process fails to work in tumors. THC promotes its reappearance so that gliomas, leukemias, melanomas and other cell types will in fact heed the signals, stop dividing, and die.”

“But, that is not all,” explains Dr. Russo: “The other way that tumors grow is by ensuring that they are nourished: they send out signals to promote angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels. Cannabinoids turn off these signals as well. It is truly incredible, and elegant.”

In other words, this article explains several ways in which cannabinoids might be used to fight cancer, and, as the article says, “Cannabinoids are usually well tolerated, and do not produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies.

Usually, any story that even suggests the possibility of a new treatment for cancer is greeted with headlines about a “cancer cure” – however remote in the future and improbable in fact it might be. But if marijuana is involved, don’t expect any coverage from mainstream media, especially since mainstream editors have been quietly killing this story for the past thirty years…

That’s right, news about the abilility of pot to shrink tumors first surfaced, way back in 1974. Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, who had been funded by the National Institutes of Health to find evidence that marijuana damages the immune system, found instead that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice — lung and breast cancer, and a virus-induced leukemia.

The Washington Post reported on the 1974 study — in the “Local” section — on Aug. 18, 1974. UPDATE : Senate Bill s510 was signed into law the beginning of January with almost NOTHING mentioned in the media about it....except that a law to safeguard food was signed!

This is a bill being backed by Monsanto and big agriculture because in the end it will turn over all food production to ONLY big business. The full ramification of GE will be felt once people realize that by genetically engineering a plant.....the new strain of that plant can now be patented which means you will NOT be able to use and seeds from that plant without approval of the company that owns the patent. Just think about it....all food supplies controlled by a government......that means you will not be able to even grow enough food for your own survival without someones approval!

It also sells out U.S. sovereignty over our own food supply by ceding to the authority of both the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Codex Alimentarius.

It would criminalize seed saving seeds turning backyard gardeners who save heirloom seeds into common criminals. This is obviously designed to give corporations like Monsanto a monopoly over seeds.

It would create an unreasonable paperwork burden that would put small food producers out of business, resulting in more power over the food supply shifting to large multinational corporations.

Government agents can sneak onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn't violate your Fourth Amendment rights, because you do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy in your own driveway — and no reasonable expectation that the government isn't tracking your movements.

That is the bizarre — and scary — rule that now applies in California and eight other Western states. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which covers this vast jurisdiction, recently decided the government can monitor you in this way virtually anytime it wants — with no need for a search warrant. (See a TIME photoessay on Cannabis Culture.)

It is a dangerous decision — one that, as the dissenting judges warned, could turn America into the sort of totalitarian state imagined by George Orwell. It is particularly offensive because the judges added insult to injury with some shocking class bias: the little personal privacy that still exists, the court suggested, should belong mainly to the rich.

This case began in 2007, when Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents decided to monitor Juan Pineda-Moreno, an Oregon resident who they suspected was growing marijuana. They snuck onto his property in the middle of the night and found his Jeep in his driveway, a few feet from his trailer home. Then they attached a GPS tracking device to the vehicle's underside.

After Pineda-Moreno challenged the DEA's actions, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit ruled in January that it was all perfectly legal. More disturbingly, a larger group of judges on the circuit, who were subsequently asked to reconsider the ruling, decided this month to let it stand. (Pineda-Moreno has pleaded guilty conditionally to conspiracy to manufacture marijuana and manufacturing marijuana while appealing the denial of his motion to suppress evidence obtained with the help of GPS.)

In fact, the government violated Pineda-Moreno's privacy rights in two different ways. For starters, the invasion of his driveway was wrong. The courts have long held that people have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their homes and in the "curtilage," a fancy legal term for the area around the home. The government's intrusion on property just a few feet away was clearly in this zone of privacy.

The judges veered into offensiveness when they explained why Pineda-Moreno's driveway was not private. It was open to strangers, they said, such as delivery people and neighborhood children, who could wander across it uninvited. (See the misadventures of the CIA.)

Chief Judge Alex Kozinski, who dissented from this month's decision refusing to reconsider the case, pointed out whose homes are not open to strangers: rich people's. The court's ruling, he said, means that people who protect their homes with electric gates, fences and security booths have a large protected zone of privacy around their homes. People who cannot afford such barriers have to put up with the government sneaking around at night.

Judge Kozinski is a leading conservative, appointed by President Ronald Reagan, but in his dissent he came across as a raging liberal. "There's been much talk about diversity on the bench, but there's one kind of diversity that doesn't exist," he wrote. "No truly poor people are appointed as federal judges, or as state judges for that matter." The judges in the majority, he charged, were guilty of "cultural elitism." The court went on to make a second terrible decision about privacy: that once a GPS device has been planted, the government is free to use it to track people without getting a warrant. There is a major battle under way in the federal and state courts over this issue, and the stakes are high. After all, if government agents can track people with secretly planted GPS devices virtually anytime they want, without having to go to a court for a warrant, we are one step closer to a classic police state — with technology taking on the role of the KGB or the East German Stasi.

Fortunately, other courts are coming to a different conclusion from the Ninth Circuit's — including the influential U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. That court ruled, also this month, that tracking for an extended period of time with GPS is an invasion of privacy that requires a warrant. The issue is likely to end up in the Supreme Court.

In these highly partisan times, GPS monitoring is a subject that has both conservatives and liberals worried. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit's pro-privacy ruling was unanimous — decided by judges appointed by Presidents Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. (Comment on this story.)

Plenty of liberals have objected to this kind of spying, but it is the conservative Chief Judge Kozinski who has done so most passionately. "1984 may have come a bit later than predicted, but it's here at last," he lamented in his dissent. And invoking Orwell's totalitarian dystopia where privacy is essentially nonexistent, he warned: "Some day, soon, we may wake up and find we're living in Oceania."

Invasion of privacy in the Internet age. Expanding the reach of law enforcement to snoop on e-mail traffic or on Web surfing. Those are among the criticisms being aimed at the FBI as it tries to update a key surveillance law.

With its proposed amendment, is the Obama administration merely clarifying a statute or expanding it? Only time and a suddenly on guard Congress will tell.

Federal law requires communications providers to produce records in counterintelligence investigations to the FBI, which doesn't need a judge's approval and court order to get them.

They can be obtained merely with the signature of a special agent in charge of any FBI field office and there is no need even for a suspicion of wrongdoing, merely that the records would be relevant in a counterintelligence or counterterrorism investigation. The person whose records the government wants doesn't even need to be a suspect.

The bureau's use of these so-called national security letters to gather information has a checkered history.

The bureau engaged in widespread and serious misuse of its authority to issue the letters, illegally collecting data from Americans and foreigners, the Justice Department's inspector general concluded in 2007. The bureau issued 192,499 national security letter requests from 2003 to 2006.

Weathering that controversy, the FBI has continued its reliance on the letters to gather information from telephone companies, banks, credit bureaus and other businesses with personal records about their customers or subscribers — and Internet service providers.

That last source is the focus of the Justice Department's push to get Congress to modify the law.

The law already requires Internet service providers to produce the records, said Dean Boyd, a spokesman for the Justice Department's national security division. But he said as written it also causes confusion and the potential for unnecessary litigation as some Internet companies have argued they are not always obligated to comply with the FBI requests.

A key Democrat on Capitol Hill, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Patrick Leahy of Vermont, wants a timeout.

The administration's proposal to change the Electronic Communications Privacy Act "raises serious privacy and civil liberties concerns," Leahy said Thursday in a statement.

"While the government should have the tools that it needs to keep us safe, American citizens should also have protections against improper intrusions into their private electronic communications and online transactions," said Leahy, who plans hearings in the fall on this and other issues involving the law.

Critics are lined up in opposition to what the Obama administration wants to do.

"The FBI is playing a shell game," says Al Gidari, whose clients have included major online companies, wireless service providers and their industry association.

"This is a huge expansion" of the FBI's authority "and burying it this way in the intelligence authorization bill is really intended to bury it from scrutiny," Gidari added.

Boyd, the Justice spokesman, said the changes being proposed will not allow the government to obtain or collect new categories of information; rather it simply seeks to clarify what Congress intended when the statute was amended in 1993, he argued.

Critics, however, point to a 2008 opinion by the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel which found that the FBI's reach with national security letters extends only as far as getting a person's name, address, the period in which they were a customer and the numbers dialed on a telephone or to that phone.

The proposed amendment would add the category "electronic communications transactional records" to the section of the law that currently lists only those items cited in the Justice legal opinion. Those four words are already in another section of the law.

The problem the FBI has been having is that some providers, relying on the 2008 Justice opinion — issued during the Bush administration — have refused to turn over Internet records such as information about who a person e-mails and who has e-mailed them and information about a person's Web surfing history.

To deal with the issue, there's no need to change the law since the FBI has the authority to obtain the same information with a court order issued under a broad section of the Patriot Act, said Gregory Nojeim, director of the Project on Freedom, Security and Technology at the Center for Democracy and Technology, a nonprofit Internet privacy group.

The critics say the proposed change would allow the FBI to remove federal judges and courts from scrutiny of its requests for sensitive information.

"The implications of the proposal are that no court is deciding whether even that low standard of `relevance' is met," said Nojeim. "The FBI uses national security letters to find not just who the target of an investigation e-mailed, but also who those people e-mailed and who e-mailed them."

Interior's MMS issues new Louisiana offshore oil drilling permits

With still no clear plans presented to the public on how to deal with accidental oil gushers such as the current BP oil disaster, the Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service issued a new drilling permit to Bandon Oil and Gas, LP for a site about 50 miles off the coast of Louisiana and 115 feet below the ocean's surface. An Internet deep link search reveals Bandon Oil and Gas was recently known as Beryl Oil and Gas LP. Records also show that Bandon was recently acquired by Superior Energy Services, Inc.

The new drilling site is south of Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge and Game Preserve, far to the west of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that triggered the BP spill.

Last Sunday, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said "...an extended moratorium on deep water drilling was needed to provide time to implement new safety requirements".

"With the BP oil spill still growing in the Gulf, and investigations and reviews still under way, a six month pause in drilling is needed, appropriate, and prudent," Salazar said.

The approval is clearly duplicitous and misleading to the public as MMS says only offshore drilling deeper than 500 feet was suspended. I guess sorry we didn't ask.

I became aware a few years back, of the cruise industry, to actually SELL cabins to people and then the owners could use them or lease them back as the needs of the Ship changed.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska, May 26 (UPI) -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. said it closed the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline after oil spilled during a scheduled test at a pump station near Fairbanks.

The company said it lost power at a pump station near Fairbanks during the testing of a fire command system. As a result, relief valves opened and crude oil spilled into a secondary containment system.

"The pipeline is currently shut down and the North Slope producers have been prorated to 16 percent," the company explained.

The 800-mile pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, Alaska, had a design capacity of 2 million barrels per day in the 1970s, though production from the region has declined since the late 1980s.

British oil giant BP is the largest shareholder of the pipeline.

Alyeska said it estimated there were "several thousand barrels" of oil spilled as a result of the power failure. The containment area, the company said, has the capacity to hold more than 100,000 barrels of oil.

The pipeline operator said it activated a team to assess the situation.

Fed Documents Reveal Secret Lobbying Effort Against Audit Provision
The Federal Reserve is secretly engaged in an intense lobbying effort in an attempt to stave off moves to have the Government Accountability Office audit it, internal documents reveal. The Huffington Post has obtained the documents, which were distributed to Senate offices by a Fed official, whose identity the online news site agreed not to reveal. "The effort to beat back the audit relies on playing two members of the same caucus -- Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) -- off each other." writes Ryan Grim. Today will see a possible first round of votes on on amendments to Senator Christopher Dodd's financial-overhaul bill. One such amendment is S 604 The Federal Reserve Sunshine act, the Senate version of Congressman Ron Paul's Federal Transparency Act, sponsored by Sen. Sanders. The amendment calls for a full audit of the Fed. The unnamed Fed official in the documents essentially acknowledges support of a much more restrictive audit proposal by Sen. Merkley. "I am sending some information on the effects of audits of the Federal Reserve System as well as two additional documents - one summarizes the GAO and related provisions in the Dodd Bill as passed by the committee (Title XI, Sections 1151-1153) and the other is a summary of the Sanders and Paul/Grayson amendments," the Fed official wrote in an e-mail accompanying the documents. "As I mentioned, we believe that the bipartisan Corker-Merkley provision in the Dodd Bill is quite strong and addresses issues of transparency and disclosure without impinging on the independence of monetary policy," the Fed official writes. Ron Paul's Campaign For Liberty website has consistently addressed the problem with this watering down provision, noting that it guarantees continued secrecy for the Fed. Paul and Sanders have persistently disproved the Fed's claim that their provisions for an audit would interfere with monetary policy deliberations and the Fed's overall independence. Merkley's provision is essentially a Senate version of Congressman Mel Watt's (D-NC) amendment to the House financial reform bill, which would have severely limited the audit, and gutted Ron Paul's H.R. 1207 bill. The Watt amendment was also supported by the Fed before it was rejected in favour of Ron Paul's amendment by the House Financial Services Committee last November. Even Merkley himself notes that the provision weakens the prospect of an audit of the Fed: "I appreciate Representative [Alan] Grayson's concerns over accountability at the Federal Reserve. I have been a strong proponent of Fed reform and voted against the re-confirmation of Ben Bernanke because the Fed has been so lax in using its regulatory powers," Merkley said in a statement to HuffPost, responding to an analysis from Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) showing that the Senate bill did not meaningfully expand transparency. "Moreover, I felt strongly that we need to act now to empower the GAO to audit the extraordinary emergency programs created by the Fed and I succeeded in getting that power into the Senate bill. Rep. Grayson points out, fairly in my mind, that we need to go even further to audit the Fed's standing programs. I agree. While we need to protect the Fed's independence to implement monetary policy, I think the structure and use of their standard programs should be transparent." Merkley added. A full audit of the Fed under the Sanders and Paul/Grayson amendments would pave the way for disclosure of which financial institutions received $2 trillion in public bailout funds, information that the Fed refuses to make public and, along with the largest commercial banks in the U.S., has fought tooth and nail to keep secret. The Sanders and Paul/Grayson amendments would ensure that such lending could never again be done in secret. Their efforts were boosted yesterday by the damning revelations that former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan wanted internal warnings over the housing bubble kept secret in 2004, so that outsiders, whom he said did not fully understand the situation, would not be able to interject in the debate. In addition to the backlash from the Fed and the banks, the audit provisions face opposition from the White House, with the administration trotting out the same argument that an audit would threaten the independence of the Fed. "It's likely, in fact, that the Obama administration will be under intense pressure to veto the entire financial reform bill if 'audit the fed' survives.", notes Brian Beutler. White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel is reportedly working closely with the Fed to kill off the audit provisions at all costs to protect the power structure dominated by the international banking elite. Yesterday Congressmen Grayson and Paul appeared on Dylan Ratigan to discuss the progress of their efforts to audit the Fed.

There are allot of you out there that don't believe that it's possible to plan and execute a strategy over many decades. That's why they feel safe that this government will always defend the rights of the citizens of this country from foreign governments. We change our elected officials every 2-4 years so it's not possible for a long term takeover plan to be acted on.....right??

Wrong....

I spent many years in the employ of a corporate giant, and I can tell you first hand, that while you in your personal life may only plan for the next year or so in detail, corporations have a structure that allows them to set goals on a long term plan. 10-20 years in advance. The main goal of EVERY for profit corporation is the global dominance of their products or services over all other providers. Plain and simple right? There corporate statements may infer that they care about the people or the world, but they do very little about it.

Either our elected officials are asleep at the wheel....or there is a more sinister possibility??? Are they complicit in this overthrow? Is all that special interest (lobbyist) money buying their silence in the matter?

What time is it?

The time is now for the rebirth of our human souls. The souls that know at a core level that something is very wrong and needs attention. To some it is a vague uneasiness and to others it may feel like anxiety and to others still, it is a knowing that there is change occurring that needs our attention before our freedom is stolen from us.

Why Now?

Our government and our money has been and is being hijacked by a small elitist group. Their plans have been very long term and their goal is nothing less then to be the supreme ruling voice of this planet, it's people and it's resources. Their work has gone on mostly in the shadows for many many years but it took on a new rapidity in the late 1940's with what may have been the reverse engineering of technologies that were far beyond the scope of where we were at, for our developmental age as humans. Shortly after that we got the computer, then transistors and the truly modern age had begun. Please take some time to review events in the 50's. You received warnings (or your parents did) from President Eisenhower at THAT time about the military-industrial complex and what could happen if we don't control it closely. Not many watched closely!

Our monetary system here in the U.S. was developed during wartime and as such it NEEDS war to continue to function. We have found one reason or another to ALWAYS be at war (declared or not) somewhere in the world. When the government felt it was better NOT to be involved in the conflict....the industrial part of the complex found ways to support the conflict with arms to both sides or to try and overtake the sovereignty of the country by installing some sort of puppet government that will control the masses with just enough help to keep the people under thumb while the politically favored continued to take money and freedoms away from the people they were sworn to help.

Where is the help?

Were they sworn to help?? Interesting talking point. Let's look at our form of government as it exists today. It used to be 3 separate arms of the government.....the executive branch (or) administration, the legislature, and the judiciary. Our founding fathers were well aware that no form of government would be any good unless there were checks and balances between the different arms so no one side could control and direct without there being a chance for opposition. If you look closely at the Patriot Act that was enacted after 9/11 and the version that was recently enacted with the latest continuation of the Patriot Act approved by congress, it gives almost complete control. (the ability to declare Marshall law for any direct or implied threat the PRESIDENT senses) This means people, that the police and armed forces can be deployed within this country at any time to control the population.

Not your father's government anymore

The government that we have accustomed ourselves to and learned about in civics class is no longer actively functioning on your behalf. The souls of most of the people you have elected and sent to Washington to protect your interests, have been purchased by special interest groups and corporate America. In other words, our government no longer serves the people, it serves corporations and the powerful elite who control them. They can break the back of ANY country they choose and in any manner they choose, thru military interventions, public insurgence, or as we see unfolding in Greece, monetarily.

Now is the time

The time has come to awaken from this dream of being protected by our government.....you are NOT being protected at all......when they say the social security system has gone broke.....what recourse will you have? When the promise of a job and financial opportunities is taken from you or your children.....what can you do about it? When they come for your home and land and business....when you are strangled by taxes and supporting a system that is failing on purpose who do you go to to fix it??

I am not new to blogs, but my hopes are this will be a new kind of blog. For the first time in human existance, we really have the opportunity to learn from and to speak with, peoples from all over the world. We are able to (if we choose) find more similarities then differences between us.

If we strip away the politics and nationalism in the world, we are human beings. I am not a country or a flag, a capitalist or a communist, I am a human being. I did not choose where I was born and that birthright does not make me who I am. I don't have to accept the labels others pin on me because they only know where I was born or where I am living, not what is in my heart.

If you choose as I do, to have a better world, then it is up to each one of us to rediscover the human being that exists within and to do our best each day to help those that are suffering.

Selling National Security

China bids for firm that makes "intrusion prevention" technology for the Department of Defense.

THE CHINESE ANNOUNCED on Saturday that they would be buying into the company that provides the Pentagon with technology to prevent cyber-attacks--of the sort the Chinese launched a few weeks ago. Why worry? We are all free traders now, according the president and his secretary of the Treasury--all except misguided Democrats, trade unions, displaced workers, and those who worry about our national security.
True, free trade is great--when dealing with other parties who are in it for the same thing--to make money. But that ain't the name of the game these days. Now we have a company that must answer to the Chinese government picking up a piece of an American company, 3Com, that--get this--makes "intrusion prevention" technology that helps the Defense Department, among other clients, protect itself from hackers.
True, the Chinese company, Huawei Technologies, will be a minority shareholder. But it--and one must assume any Chinese government official who asks for Huawei's cooperation--will have access to the books, financial records and any other company documents that they might find useful. Remember: The Pentagon is convinced that the Chinese Peoples' Liberation Army hackers were the perpetrators of a massive cyber-attack on it just a few weeks ago.
So never mind that Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman, told the Financial Times that he is "not aware of any concern" over the acquisition. Or that there is big money in this for 3Com shareholders, who are being offered a 44 percent premium over the share price set in the market--which only proves how really, really interested in 3Com's technology Huawei and its partner, Bain Capital, are. Or that the Committee on Foreign Investment (Cifus) will review the deal. It is already leaking that it would be satisfied if the deal is drawn so that Huawei agrees, cross its heart and hope to die, to limit its access to certain technologies. And rest assured that Cifus will hear soothing words from Citibank, UBS, HSBC, and ABN Amro, who are putting the debt financing package together--oh yes, along with Bank of China.
One can only hope that Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson reads up on his Adam Smith, no protectionist he. Smith warned that when national security is at stake, free trade takes a distant second place as a national priority. The great Scot is, as usual, as relevant to our day as he was when he wrote The Wealth of Nations 230 years ago.

MONTEBELLO, Quebec (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush met the leaders of Canada and Mexico at a luxurious cedar chateau on Monday to bolster economic and security ties, but protesters decried the gathering's secrecy and shouted for Bush to go home.

Dubbed the "Three Amigos summit," the two-day meeting of Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon was also expected to look at the credit crunch and turmoil gripping global financial markets.
One uncertainty concerning the summit's schedule arose as Hurricane Dean threatened to batter Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, raising speculation that Calderon might leave Canada early.
Mexican officials said there were no immediate plans for Calderon to return home but they were looking into it.
Canada and Mexico have been frustrated that growth in trade among the partners to the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, has been held back by the U.S. crackdown on the border following the September 11 attacks in 2001.
To try to tackle that problem, the countries have developed the Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP. But the agenda has upset activists on the left and the right who contend it will erode national sovereignty.
As Bush and Calderon arrived at the resort in Montebello, Quebec, more than 2,000 demonstrators descended on the village as well and squared off with police in riot gear.
Some were dressed in black with their faces covered by kerchiefs. They banged on drums and chanted, "Arrest the criminals inside the fence" and "George Bush go home."
But Harper dismissed the demonstrations. "I've heard it's nothing. A couple hundred? It's sad," the Canadian prime minister said just before leading Bush into the log-cabin resort.
Further raising the ire of the summit's critics is a 3-metre (10-foot) fence put up around the hotel to keep protesters at bay.
Protesters said the talks were being carried out behind the backs of ordinary citizens and without any votes planned in the Canadian Parliament or U.S. Congress. They also criticized plans for consultations with corporate leaders.
"I particularly oppose war criminal Bush seeking to annex Canada and Mexico, to put the armed forces and police services under U.S. command. It's all very dangerous," said Dean Lawveri, 39, of New York state.
Late in the day, a small group of protesters began to hurl rocks, bottles and cans at police, who fired tear gas to break up the crowd.
HURRICANE STIRS UNCERTAINTY OVER SCHEDULE
Calderon had been scheduled to spend an extra day in Canada, visiting with Harper in the Gatineau hills in Quebec and then addressing a business lunch in Toronto, but there was speculation he could cut his visit short.
Forecasters said Hurricane Dean had the potential to be catastrophic and it was expected to hit Mexico's border with Belize early on Tuesday.
Bush and Calderon were meeting for the first time since legislation to overhaul U.S. immigration policies collapsed in Congress, in a blow to an issue of key concern to Mexico.
The Bush administration has moved to increase scrutiny and set heftier fines on businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
Bush and Calderon were also expected to discuss a package of hundreds of millions of dollars in aid the United States is considering for Mexico to help fight drug cartels, but a deal was not expected to be announced at the summit.
A senior Canadian official told reporters that Harper and Bush, in a one-on-one meeting, discussed Canada's role in Afghanistan, and the Canadian leader reiterated that any future role for Canada in Afghanistan would need the endorsement of parliament

Clinton: Terrorist attack will help GOP
Clinton campaigned in New Hampshire Thursday.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — She says she is the Democrat best equipped to fight terrorists, but White House hopeful Hillary Clinton told New Hampshire voters Thursday that another attack on the United States would likely help Republican candidates at the polls.
"It's a horrible prospect to ask yourself, 'What if? What if?'" Clinton told a house party in Concord, first reported by the New York Post and confirmed by her campaign. "But if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the Republicans an advantage again, no matter how badly they have mishandled it, no matter how much more dangerous they have made the world."
Clinton added that if such a scenario occurred, she is the best Democratic presidential candidate "to deal with that."
Clinton was in the crucial early voting state Thursday to unveil her healthcare plan.

Reports that the Bush Administration will put Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the terrorism list can be read in one of two ways: it's either more bluster or, ominously, a wind-up for a strike on Iran. Officials I talk to in Washington vote for a hit on the IRGC, maybe within the next six months. And they think that as long as we have bombers and missiles in the air, we will hit Iran's nuclear facilities. An awe and shock campaign, lite, if you will. But frankly they're guessing; after Iraq the White House trusts no one, especially the bureaucracy.

As with Saddam and his imagined WMD, the Administration's case against the IRGC is circumstantial. The U.S. military suspects but cannot prove that the IRGC is the main supplier of sophisticated improvised explosive devices to insurgents killing our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The most sophisticated version, explosive formed projectiles or shape charges, are capable of penetrating the armor of an Abrams tank, disabling the tank and killing the crew.
A former CIA explosives expert who still works in Iraq told me: "The Iranians are making them. End of story." His argument is only a state is capable of manufacturing the EFP's, which involves a complicated annealing process. Incidentally, he also is convinced the IRGC is helping Iraqi Shi'a militias sight in their mortars on the Green Zone. "The way they're dropping them in, in neat grids, tells me all I need to know that the Shi'a are getting help. And there's no doubt it's Iranian, the IRGC's," he said.
A second part of the Administration's case against the IRGC is that the IRGC has had a long, established history of killing Americans, starting with the attack on the Marines in Beirut in 1983. And that's not to mention it was the IRGC that backed Hezballah in its thirty-four day war against Israel last year. The feeling in the Administration is that we should have taken care of the IRGC a long, long time ago.
Strengthening the Administration's case for a strike on Iran, there's a belief among neo-cons that the IRGC is the one obstacle to a democratic and friendly Iran. They believe that if we were to get rid of the IRGC, the clerics would fall, and our thirty-years war with Iran over. It's another neo-con delusion, but still it informs White House thinking.
And what do we do if just the opposite happens — a strike on Iran unifies Iranians behind the regime? An Administration official told me it's not even a consideration. "IRGC IED's are a casus belli for this Administration. There will be an attack on Iran."

How much of this is saber rattling and how much is a real threat? We all know that "Georgie Boy" does not care about what is correct or appropriate.....he only cares about what HE wants. Is this what the American public wants? Is this what Congress wants? Another battlefront? Can we afford more war.....certainly the companies that supply the arms want more war......the profits continue to go up while the average worker is taking home less pay every month. The dollar does not go as far as it used too.....gas is still unreasonably hi...and the stock market keeps going up. Could it be because the war machine has knowledge that we will be fighting for years to come? Does any of this make sense to anyone??

If we invade Iran we stand the chance of galvanizing the entire Muslim world against us. When did preemptive strikes become the way we defend ourselves. Even Hillary Clinton sees how this can be used politically if done at the right moment.

The Bush administration has released a directive called the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive. The directive released on May 9th, 2007 has gone almost unnoticed by the mainstream and alternative media. This is understandable considering the huge Ron Paul and immigration news but this story is equally as huge. In this directive, Bush declares that in the event of a “Catastrophic Emergency”, the President will be entrusted with leading the activities to ensure constitutional government. The language in this directive would in effect make the President a dictator in the case of such an emergency.
The directive defines a “Catastrophic Emergency” as the following.
"Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions;
So what does this mean? This is entirely subjective and doesn’t provide any real concrete definition of what such an emergency would entail. Assuming that it means a disaster on the scale of the 9/11 attacks or Katrina, there is no question that the United States at some point in time will experience an emergency on par with either of those events. When one of those events takes place, the President will be a dictator in charge of ensuring a working constitutional government.
The language written in the directive is disturbing because it doesn’t say that the President will work with the other branches of government equally to ensure a constitutional government is protected. It says clearly that there will be a cooperative effort among the three branches that will be coordinated by the President. If the President is coordinating these efforts it effectively puts him in charge of every branch.
This directive on its face is unconstitutional because each branch of government the executive, legislative and judicial are supposed to be equal in power. By putting the President in charge of coordinating such an effort to ensure constitutional government over all three branches is effectively making the President a dictator allowing him to tell all branches of government what to do.
The directive itself recognizes that each branch is already responsible for directing their own continuity of government procedures. If that’s the case than why does the President need to coordinate these procedures for all of the branches? This is nothing more than a power grab that centralizes power and will make the President a dictator in the case of a so called “Catastrophic Emergency”.

PEOPLE.......WAKE UP PLEASE!!!! This man has run multiple businesses into the ground and now it's our economy!! Look around you....has ANYTHING gotten better in the last 8 years.....do you feel safer? Doesn't anyone remember that he was taking a MONTH long vacation shortly (after 3 months) into his first term....when all the media was talking about his lack of performance and his inability to speak. Remember all the "Bushisms"?? Enough to write a book about!!!
In his business life before we (I hate to even say that) elected him....(Or Kathryn Harris did) whenever he ran a business into the ground....his Saudi friends would invest more money in him.....does that mean when our economy tanks completely they are going to come bail us out?? Our sovereignty is being eroded by things like the "North American Union" which basically makes Mexico, the US and Canada one economy which will be based on the "Amero" and the US dollar will be removed from circulation....OH...you didn't know that??? President Bush's penchant for writing exceptions to laws he has just signed violates the Constitution, an American Bar Association task force says in a report highly critical of the practice.The ABA group, which includes a one-time FBI director and former federal appeals court judge, said the president has overstepped his authority in attaching challenges to hundreds of new laws.The attachments, known as bill-signing statements, say Bush reserves a right to revise, interpret or disregard measures on national security and constitutional grounds."This report raises serious concerns crucial to the survival of our democracy," said the ABA's president, Michael Greco. "If left unchecked, the president's practice does grave harm to the separation of powers doctrine, and the system of checks and balances that have sustained our democracy for more than two centuries."The task force said the statements suggest the president will decline to enforce some laws. Bush has had more than 800 signing statement challenges, compared with about 600 signing statements combined for all other presidents.

OK What is this all about??? Why would one president find a reason to flag these laws that the Judicial body of our government saw fit to create. Just the shear volume of bill-signing statements would cause alarm by itself. but there might be more at work here than you see at first. It seems like a grab for a more far reaching power from the Executive branch of government. To leave laws basically open to being overturned by the Executive branch......or interpreted by Justice Sam Alito who saw the use of these back in the Regan Era.It appears that little by little this President is trying to set the Executive branch of government up as the first and last word on how things will be. All the decisions made in this country shall be made by only one man or a cadre of the inner circle......Then we will no longer live in a Democracy. Don't think this can't or won't happen. Remember your past.....or your doomed to repeat it. Don't let your personal freedoms be eroded for ANY reason. There is a Constitution and it mandates 3 branches of government. All equal in weight, none having the last word......checks and balances.

How long will this go on?

I've been away again....this time looking into the outright lies, half truths and misinformation regarding what the real cause of the World Trade Center collapse was.

I don't care which side of the political fence you are on, I assume that you WANT to know the truth. This may be my first mistake! When I speak about this, I am surprised by the number of people that just don't want to know or are afraid to hear anything outside the "official" explanation of what really took place.

There are too many inconsistencies for me to believe the "experts" explanation for why two 110 story buildings collapsed and an adjacent 47 story building collapsed that day. My eyes saw what my eyes saw that day. I saw 3 buildings collapse like they were demolished in a controlled demolition. Even if I believe that the planes that struck the building weakened the structures and the burning jet fuel caused the metal to heat up and weaken......why did building 7 collapse?

It was NOT hit by a plane and only had 2-3 small fires on 2-3 floors. The sprinkler system should have handled those fires.....so why DID that 47 story building collapse in on itself??

I'm open for your comments and criticisms as we explore these ideas and topics. All I know is I want a safer world for my kids and grand kids......not a world as envisioned by George Orwell in his classic 1984. It's happening around you....your civil liberties are slowly being eaten away. RFID chips are in your new passports, and soon in you. Please wake up and look around you folks. Without the 911 event, we wouldn't have need for these or other tracking devices "our" government is utilizing......mostly without our knowledge and under the radar. What about all those traffic cameras? Do you feel safer or more invaded??

Please think about the people who died that day.......don't their families deserve to know the truth??

When to begin?

For the basics of reading, writing, mathematics and the sciences ( K-6 ) we still have to utilize teachers in a classroom setting. As we approach the secondary schools from the 7-12 grades we can introduce the concept of distance learning. Proctors would be available in the classroom setting
for questions after the presentation and for assistance during the week if the student so chooses. We can significantly increase the number of degrees from a university by being able to deliver classes to the students home, mobile device or whatever technology is popular and appropriate at the time.

Getting students accustomed to a learning environment wherein the “teacher” is not co-located with them will be a bit of a hurdle I have no doubt. Coordinating testing and insuring there is no cheating will also be something to look at. If we can start getting our children used to learning in this format, it will help the economy in ways we can only imagine. If we can turn out educated minds into the workforce an average of 3-4 yrs sooner then we are now…..the benefit to society and the economy can be great.

When students come to college now, they are woefully prepared for the
idea of “distance learning”. There is a learning curve involved with this kind of study. You must learn self-discipline and good study habits to be able to succeed with this format of learning. The student must also be very computer literate, there is allot of supplemental material that should be made available on other programs such as “Blackboard” or a format that is popular at that time. There will still be the ability to interact with other students in the class and to work jointly on projects thru the computer.

The Concept

The basic concept is easy to understand and I’m sure will be open to much debate on HOW to implement the idea, first nationally and then perhaps on a global scale!

We now utilize distance learning, class streaming, blackboard and a variety of formats to deliver instructor led classes to distant locations. The concept it to expand on this. Why can’t we have captains of industry and renowned scientists and mathematicians who are involved in industry still teach our children utilizing these methods?

Sounds simple…..so what will it take to implement a system like this?
First it’s going to take agreement by business to let the employees time be utilized in this manner. So what will be the incentive for business to let an employee spend their time teaching for a college you ask? Two words….Tax Credit!

Why not offer companies that are willing to share their employees time for this purpose, a worthwhile tax incentive or break? Isn’t the future of this planet and all the peoples on it worth this type of investment? I see this as a type of win win for all parties. The company receives tax breaks, the employee receives a second income and gets to shape young minds without having to jeopardize his financial situation, and most important is that our children are exposed to some of the finest minds available in all areas of life. The sciences, medicine, engineering….all can and will benefit from this form of interaction.

I have some ideas on this and how we can equip future generations with learned minds that may be able to help rebuild and move forward the “Great Opportunity” America has stood for the past 225 years or so. I never again in my life want to deal with a President with an IQ in the 90’s, or one that has run 3 consecutive businesses into the ground. We need and deserve better leadership then that, but we will struggle to achieve that with the current educational system we have in place.

Let’s explore education here in the U.S. Ask any college professor about the quality of student he is receiving into his class and large percentage will tell you the students lack the skills necessary in the basic math and sciences.
This should not be hard to understand. It's a result of underpaying the people we entrust with our childrens minds. (I mean REAL teachers not administrators) We need to pay educators more OR find another way to get the best minds available to educate or future generations. Real world expenses and life cost more then we are willing to pay and perhaps more than we can pay under the current model for education.

Those that are called to teach but have been diverted into the world of business due to financial reasons are the ones this idea is constructed around. We need to expose our children to the best minds available in order to raise the bar a few notches. We need those that love what they do and thoroughly know their subject material to instruct our children.

I'm Back from a Hiatus

Well it's good to be back. I had to take some time off to rethink how I want to present this blog. I am not another unhappy American whining about his life but at the same time I don't want to keep my mouth shut about inequalities I see around me and areas where it seems there hasn't been any common sense applied to a solution.

This planet needs help....the people on it need help....and we need creative solutions and allot of "Out of the Box" thinking. The status quo just won't work anymore. Those that think because of money or position, that they will live the life they always had, without having to adapt, are sorely mistaken.

As I remember it....this government is supposed to be "By the people, For the people" and guess what folks....YOU ARE THE PEOPLE that refrain speaks to. We have abdicated so much responsibility that we barely remember WE are in charge. The ability to change how things are going by voting for different politicians is still within your power. Do you understand that any Congressman or Representative will jump thru hoops if they receive 5,000 pieces of mail on the same issue?? We can affect change until our representatives realize we are tired of being sold down the river to special interest groups that care only about profit....not people.

I'm going to sign off for now and hope that you will give me your input and views on inequities YOU see around you....and maybe a solution that you think might work. I know I have discussions daily with the people I work with, and we all have interesting ideas on world problems and how we would fix them....that's what I would like to see in this blog....your words, with some interesting ideas!

Missing money??? Again!!!!

Well once again we find out that money sent to help rebuild Iraq has been misappropriated or lost. Yep.....millions of our tax dollars are lost again because of poor management. Whether the fault is the system or Halliburton or a combination of both, it's you and I that get the short end!

Are you sick and tired of just paying and paying.....watching others steal with two hands while you and I try to scratch out a living and make a buck go as far as you can? If you are.....let's hear from you.....how would you handle something like this??

Hard to change

The course of world events is very hard to change. We have been on a spiraling path that seems to be getting worse instead of better. The situation in the middle east is no better then when we went in over 5 years ago.....this war has lasted longer then world war 2 and we have doubled the amount of killed since 9/11.

Any surprise that we are now contending with a federal budget crisis? What are we gaining....respect...I don't think so! Allegiance ... not hardly....so why are we continuing there. I know....we are trying to calm the entire region down....but it's not working...HELLO Pres. Bush....are you listening???

People here in this country are starting to go belly up. Forclosures are up.....the housing market is at it's weakest. Help me here folks.....How about your ideas on what issues we should tackle first.

The plight of the people who are retired and on fixed income is another issue i want to tackle here......

Well what are your hopes for the new Congress

It's a new year and a new Congress....will it make a difference? Will they block sending more troops to Iraq? Can they reverse the financial trend in America? The rich are getting richer, and the poor are falling into a sea of debit without ample chance to save themselves. An increase in the minimum wage is a start....but what about middle America? Crushed with ever growing debit for colleges and gas and general living expenses.

The housing market that drove the economy for 2-3 years has max'd out and is showing definite signs of retreating. Over 500,000 new homes glut the market. No-one to buy them and a slow resale market too. Over 2 million properties expected to go into bankruptcy this year from the unsavory ans in some cases suspect lending practices during the housing boom.

I wish out new Congress the wisdom of Solomon as the try to attend to the so very many needs of the common American. Please post your concerns here too....let's see what you really think the important issues to deal with are.

The Fence

It's hard to pick an issue because there are so many....but lets start with immigration and our "fence".

Does ANYONE really think that a fence will stop illegal immigration to this country? The fence didn't work in China did it? If you don't know what I'm speaking about....you might know that fence as the Great Wall of China. Besides being an amazing feat of engineering...it did nothing to prevent immigration from one side to the other.

I believe we have enough technology available to monitor crossing points and if we hire enough manpower, we can deal with allot more crossings then we are currently doing. Manpower has always been an issue with INS....so hire more people....and use technology!

Now I would like your ideas on how we might handle this!

Hello and a good morning to you all!

I have decided to change the way I approach this blog! In the past I have written as an angry American...angry about many things in this country that seems to be spinning out of control.
Today this is going to change. It will change in the way I write about my topics, and hopefully it will change from your input in the comments section.

I am NOT an angry American.....I am angry about the things that are happening in America. I also realize it is easier to complain about things then it is to change the way we do things.....but change is necessary! We are a great nation that has become very lazy. We have allowed our power as citizens of this great country to be slowly eroded.

From now on I will be posting things that I think are problems that we must address....and along with that...an idea on how I think we might make it better. I also want and need your input on these topics too. We are what makes America great! Our ideas matter!! Just like a "think tank" where the most intelligent people in America sit and exchange ideas, we have to do the same!

Lets find solutions......not just point out the problems. Remember this quote:

The need to change our views

I just read an article about a proposed wind farm off S. Padre Island in TX.This sounds like a good idea to me. We are continually looking for new sources of renewable energy aren't we? The wind is a renewable resource. This is not a new technology.....it's been around for very long time. You didn't think that the windmills in the Netherlands were just to make the postcards pretty did you? They were historically used to grind grain or pump water from low-lying land. They greatly accelerated shipbuilding in the Netherlands, and were instrumental in keeping its polders dry.

Enter the environmentalists who say the spinning blades could kill countless rare birds that migrate through the area each year on their way to and from winter grounds in Mexico and Central America.I don't want to sound cold.....but the reality is we NEED renewable energy and this is a very important source for the future. It order for this to be effective we have to place these turbines where they will get the most steady winds. This location was not picked at random, it serves the need for steady offshore breezes.

People....think and be logical....not emotional. True....at first I'm sure it will confuse the migrating birds that the environmentalists are concerned about. Notice I said at first! All animals on God's green earth are adaptable. It's call natural order, the strong survive. I can't change the way things are and neither can you. We are at this time and place in human development. We NEED alternate energy sources and in order to accomplish this there will be changes.

Things cannot always stay the same. The birds will figure out in a migration or two not to fly low enough to be injured by the blades. I don't remember any group protesting the development of airplanes because they had spinning blades do you? Birds have been known to fly into propellers on airplanes.Everything adapts.....the creatures on the earth adapt except when hunted into extinction, which I don't approve of.....but this is different!

The chief lawyer for Saddam Hussein warned U.S. President George W. Bush in a letter that if his client is found guilty in the Dujail trial, there will be more strife in Iraq and the region.
Attorney Khalil al-Dulaimi pressed for the release of Hussein and his seven co-defendants, who are expected to face a verdict November 5, two days before the U.S. midterm elections.
The lawyer accuses Bush of strategically arranging the verdict to be announced before the balloting.
The letter from al-Dulaimi, dated Saturday, was e-mailed to CNN's Baghdad bureau. Al-Dulaimi told CNN it was sent to the U.S. leader through the American Embassy in Amman, Jordan.
Hussein penned a separate letter to the chief judge presiding over his trial claiming that the November 5 scheduling of a verdict in the case is an attempt to sway U.S. midterm elections by painting his conviction as a victory for the Bush administration.

How transparent our "great" leader has become.....even to his enemies!

First the gas prices drop 0.40-0.50 per gallon (gee all of a sudden we had lots of gas available?) Now we are going to have the "End if the Iraq situation" just before you go to the polls on Nov. 7th. How gullible IS the American public anyway?? I know we have a short attention span, and forgive easily, but please ....... They have lots of degreed people working on thier side, that are betting you won't remember ANYTHING when you get to the polls. Remember this when you go to cast your vote.....the war is NOT over, and we have lost almost as many of our children to this war as we did in the tragedy of 9/11.

I have another question that needs to be answered. Part of the oil money from Iraq's revenue is supposed to fund the war.....what happened to that money or that oil? We were told early in the war that there was damage to some refineries. Has Halliburton been there for 5 yrs and not gotten one thing completed? You would think getting the oil to flow would be a priority wouldn't you? Why not write your congressman or senator and ask them where that money is? We are spending 1 BILLION dollars a DAY in Iraq....5 yrs equates to 1 TRILLION 825 BILLION dollars of YOUR tax money....gone...wasted....given to corrupt people....because they are ALWAYS first in line with a hand out! I'm going to write that number out so you can think of it before you cast a vote next week. $1,825,000,000,000....all your tax dollars and close to 3000 of our children dead.....and our President thinks the war goes well.....On that basis ALONE you should get rid of him and all the people around him that think the war goes well or that milking the American public for every dime they have is a good plan!! Let him know that you think differently when you go to vote!

Time changes everything

Thanks to a law passed last year, daylight-saving time will start earlier and end later beginning in 2007. It will last from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.
The clock change switches an hour of daylight from evening to morning, meaning drivers will need to be extra careful on Halloween night to be sure of avoiding excited little trick-or-treaters. The official change occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday

Something that has been a standard all my life is about to change. I have mixed feelings about this. The truth is, life is about change, actually the only constant in life IS change. Why then is it so hard sometimes to accept change? We change all the cells in our bodies every 7 yrs. We change from fetus to new born to child to adolecent to teenager to young adult all in the course of 20 yrs.

How then can we say people can't change....or situations can't change. It's everything and everyone's destiny to change. So I will embrace the new daylight savings time.....and you embrace every day and all the changes it brings to your life......it's the only thing we can all count on.....change!

An experimental helmet from Toshiba Corp. gives its wearer the visual experience of being someplace else.
Inside the headgear from the Japanese electronics maker, a 40-centimeter (16-inch) screen can show a vista that is synched with the wearer's head movements, giving the illusion of actually being there.
The 3 kilogram (6 pound) helmet -- squared off in the back and rounded, bubble-like, in the front -- has infrared sensors at the top that detect which way the wearer's head is moving, said company spokeswoman Kaori Hiraki.
The projector in the back of the helmet shows images corresponding to the head movements on the screen inside the helmet, giving the wearer an illusion of immediacy and realness, according to Tokyo-based Toshiba.

Well here is the beginnings of a consumer friendly virtual reality…..hmmmmm now what to make the subject matter of the first virtual experiences. Games? Adventures? Historic locations? Outer Space? The truth is I bet that pornography is the first application of this technology!

It will be the ultimate Friday night date if you can’t meet a real woman. Just slip on your helmet, start the program and before you know it you will be immersed in a world very similar to your own only very different! First the manufacturer will be doing all the programming, but it won’t be long after that when you will be able to create your own virtual utopia complete with all the people you would like to be around….well they won’t
really be there, but neither will you….will you?

The Solution is in the Problem

OK You can run but you can't hide! We have been effectively sticking our heads in the sand with this immigration issue. I know I have heard the "disaster forecasts" for the last few years. What.....nobody ELSE listened? Aren't my Congress people (politically correct huh! LOL) or Senators supposed to be handling this? What about the laws?? Where is the INS in all of this? Well I guess it's just one more thing that is unraveling here in the good old US of A.OK Let's recap.....the estimate is there are over 12 MILLION undocumented aliens living and working here now. Savor that number for a bit......that's allot of people....with allot of needs. The impact is a double edged sword.....the optimistic view is that they contribute to money in the marketplace, help in keeping labor costs down, and thus the price we pay for different products, and they can generally be counted on to do the "work no Americans will do" etc. The pessimistic side is that they carry no insurance so if they are hospitalized, WE the American people, have to foot the bill for medical expenses. We also have to deal with additional crime, which is not to say that all immigrants get into trouble with the law.....but with 12 million, there IS a percentage to be dealt with.

About the job scenario. I have spoken to people and have watched interviews with the people who were protesting on behalf of the "Rights" of the Immigrants". One of the first things they state is if they achieve legal status they will be looking at a better life and looking for better jobs......that's the American way right? Well what about the middle class that are here now....born and raised here, paid taxes all their life here? Are we now going to have to worry that our lousy middle class jobs are going to go to the "New Legals" that are willing to take less pay and less benefits? I don't live in a house with 4 other family's. Because of the way I live, I can't afford to work for $10 an hour and no benefits.
Part of the reason that the illegal immigrants CAN survive making such low wages, is that they are OK with communal type living.....We Americans....We enjoy our personal space.We have grown up that way. I can understand that in today's Real Estate market it's very hard to have a fixer upper at 1/4 of a million dollars as a starter home but that's the way it is here in Florida. So it works for them to live 4-5 family's in one home sharing expenses plus they are the renters in the market that the investors need! So here we are again, the double edged sword.

Some system has to be applied that is fair for all. Remember, that above all, the illegal immigrants that are here and protesting for their "rights" DON'T HAVE ANY!! As humans certainly.....but not the inalienable rights granted citizens of this country. There is still a law being broken, and if you decide that because of political pressure to wave a magic wand and make all of these "guests" legal, you will be defeating part of what made this country great.....rule of law! We all agree to live by laws and if you turn a blind eye to the fact that someone seeking to become part of our society and whom agrees to live by the laws of the land......is breaking a law to get here!! I guess swearing them in will be interesting.. It will go something like this, " I swear to uphold the constitution and laws of this country....NOW!"

Is ANYONE listening??

How about the employers who utilize these illegals, How should they be dealt with? What they are doing is a crime too! What type of retribution is fair and equitable for their transgression from the rule of law? Remember....When an illegal gets hurt on the job....he goes for medical care to a hospital, because of hospital policys in most cases he can't be turned away. The truth is....SOMEONE is going to pay for that hospital stay or visit, and that someone is us. Why not the man who is making the money off the illegals labor? How is this.....to get a handle on the situation, every employer who uses illegals must be registered.....and when an illegal is injured it's his employer that has to pay the bill. Why should the honest tax payer have to pay the bill?? OK I'll even compromise....if the illegal is injured off the job......JQ Taxpayer will pick up that tab.....OK Doesn't that sound fair. Sooner or later it will make sense to every employer that a health-care plan with co-pays is the best way to go......and you know there are discounts for large numbers of enrolled!

Since we are trying to resolve multiple issues…..here is an idea who’s time may have come! There are allot of trained and qualified Doctors from other countries waiting to get a green card. The process now is they agree to work in their field for 3 yrs with a temporary card and then after the 3 years they can apply for citizenship. Seems as if we only allow a select few in per year and then only with certain skill sets. The others are returned to the waiting list and the cycle goes on.OK, Here is the plan. Since the illegal immigrants are taxing on the medical resources in this country and we have so many qualified doctors wanting to become citizens…..how about the Doctors agree that as part of the conditions of becoming a citizen they are “enlisted” into a new branch of government called medical services. This qualified contingent of medical specialists of all types will attend to the needs of the illegal population, indigents and also be available for national disaster response. The key is to pay them a REASONABLE salary which will be paid for by, 1) co-pays from the illegal 2) an employment tax on industries that utilize illegal immigrants 3) a subsidy from each state based on population. You might even think of housing as a perk for the Doctors……barracks style like we have here in Delray…..not in the mansions they will probably own later!

An enlistment of 5-7 yrs before receiving a green card would be appropriate, assuring a steady stream of practitioners. This is a win win for everyone. The Doctors lobby will fight this tooth and nail saying we are flooding the market with unqualified Doctors, but you know that is as much BS as the fact that medicines from Canada are not as good as the ones we pay 10 times as much for!! Your Views?

Computer engineer Gordon Bell, a researcher for Microsoft Corp., is working on just such a mechanism. He's trying to devise what amounts to a digital diary, a searchable database that contains digitized versions of nearly everything in his life.

"The quest is to essentially build a surrogate memory. Something that's as good as my own memory, that I can use it as a supplement, and will remember everything that I should have remembered, that came to my ears, eyes, whatever," Bell said of his experiment.Conceivably you could someday be able to rehear every conversation you had when you were 20 and search for all photographs of your cousin John. What a boon to people who want to live in the past. It’s not like they are researching a way for you to go back and FIX any areas where you screwed up…..just a way for you to go back and relive the experience over and over. Interesting in concept….but what would happen to HIS-story if we do that?

Would you want a record…an EXACT record of everything you have done and said all your life? Aren't the subtle ways in which the human mind tends to only remember the good things and forgets the pain in fact a blessing? Isn't that what keeps us sane and moving forward in life? I enjoy remembering my life the way I recall it! I don't think I want reality to interfere with my memory! LOL

Elections and the drop in gas prices

If the recent plunge in gas prices is the result of a conspiracy by President George W. Bush to help the Republicans retain control of Congress, as 42 percent of Americans believe, according to one Gallup poll, a lot of Wall Streeters wish they'd been in on the plot.

So what really drove prices down - if not an Oliver Stone-worthy scenario involving the Commander-in-Chief, the House of Saud and Secretary of the Treasury Hank Paulson cajoling his cronies at Goldman Sachs to sink the crude market?
By late summer, hedge funds and other investors had poured billions into long positions in oil, gasoline, natural gas and the rest of what traders call the "energy complex," all betting on a replay of the severe 2005 hurricane season that sent prices soaring in the wake of Katrina and Rita. But one day after oil reached a monthly high of $76.98 a barrel on Aug. 7, government meteorologists downgraded their hurricane forecast and cautioned that a repeat of 2005 was "unlikely."
That announcement, combined with the end of the summer driving season and a recalibration of the commodity index that reduced the weighting of gasoline, prompted speculators to head for the exits even faster than they'd piled in (Quoted from an article by Nelson D. Look….what I find amazing here is the timing of the drop. It’s very nice that this article tries to tie together multiple reasons for this drop at this time…..but let me remind you. The media here in America is as manipulated here as in any third world country. When the price of oil was rising moment by moment right after last years hurricane season….the average person said then: “I bet the price starts coming down around election time”! And look....it has come to pass!

I have long been a person that has believed we are manipulated and controlled in ways that are so grand, we can barely feel the influence. When I said things like that….people used to say “No…That can’t be, that can’t happen here” Well I beg to differ with that opinion, and I use the oil price drop as proof.

The first family (The Bush’s) are deeply involved in oil and with the Saudi’s. For heaven sake…..Your President got the entire Saudi royal family out of the US hours after 9/11 when all aircraft in the US were grounded. Since President Bush has taken office, oil companies profits are the highest EVER in the history of the world. If he can create such huge profits for them, what makes you think they won’t give a little back so he looks like a champion of the people?? I want to remind you here since I KNOW you forgot......when the prices started going up last year,,,,the average price per gallon across the US was about $1.40...... now we are "down" to about $2.40

Thats a $1 per gallon INCREASE. 41% more now then last year. If you drive 12,000 mi a year you will be paying about $550 more this year then last! Did you recieve a 41% raise like the oil companies did? No?? Hmmmmmmm.

President Bush….I feel you have done more to injure America and what we as a nation stand for. You have blackened our eye in the court of public opinion. The graft and corruption that is obvious from the actions of the members of your staff, and the corporate giants that support you and keep you in office is all starting to unravel. You have allowed big business to earn big profits while eradicating the middle class. You have sent our sons and daughters to a foreign country to fight and die for what???? So you can gain control over more oil refineries? I thought the oil from Iraq was supposed to be financing the war to “liberate” the Iraqis … yet you suck billions of our tax dollars a week to support a war where the only winners will be you and your friends in big business. What about VP Cheney and his connection to Halliburton. Are we so naïve that you think we are fooled? They have secured contracts that NO ONE had to bid on…..you just handed it to them. And what about the cost overruns and the fact most of the things planned have been scaled back or dropped, but the money is missing and spent……tell me again President Bush how you are MY champion….a champion for the little guy!!

“Turn on your television set and there is about a 90 percent chance that the first person you view will be male. Yet, although men predominate on TV, questions come up frequently about the types of men portrayed. How do they relate to the men we know in our daily lives?

Virtually all groups of people suffer from stereotyping and men are no exception. Stereotypes are powerful because they affect our expectations of what men should and should not be like. They are damaging because they narrow our notions of what men can be and do. They affect women's expectations of men in relationships and men's expectations of other men in work settings or in friendships. Well its true isn’t it? Maybe less so for a married man, but the media does manipulate the way we see others as well as ourselves. They tell you what car you should drive to show you are successful, what beer you should drink to attract the ladies, who should handle your stock portfolio if you want sound old-time judgment about you risking your money, and on and on all day all night. On the radio, on the TV, in the movies (we will discuss the advertising in movie theaters in another column…. I really hate that!)

We are constantly bombarded with images of what we SHOULD be, do, wear, own if we were successful. A husband that is kind and gentle with his family has no marketing value compared with a well chiseled man that probably spends 8 hours a day in the gym to look like that…..and they try to tell me that is what I should aspire to be like…..come on….It's because now they market to women, Women are controlling more and more money and we all know that advertising is aimed at those with the money. Now I understand what the women kept complaining about.....how can I live up that perfect image!! So what do you think……is it right to hold anyone up to a stereotype or to expect someone to behave like a stereotype?

What happened to the Great Society?

What about all of the graft and corruption?? The influence peddling on Capitol Hill has become so brazen and so common that I fear our "Great Society" is far less. I'm not proud of nor was I part of the past when we used to go exploit other countries for whatever we could get....and by no means am I saying that that was good policy or even close to being humanitarian. Well now it seems as if our government has turned on it's own, and started to devour us in much the same way. Willing to sell our society so a few people can become super rich....and the culture of greed is so deep they are grabbing the money with both hands and thinking they can do it forever with impunity.

The engine is money and the quest for more. Bigger profits make investors happy....so that drives decisions like do we continue manufacturing something here in the US and pay a reasonable wage and some benefits to the worker who lives in this country and pays taxes in this country....or do we outsource it to a location where we can pay a severely sub-standard wage and no benefits?

All this influence peddling, graft and corruption will come to the surface as we start to change the people in power. My father used to tell me...."son, oil ALWAYS comes to the top of water, and lies are like oil"! We are seeing that principle come into play now, and I only pray they ALL get caught. Shame on them for what they have been doing!!

Remember...the big dollars get out the big votes, we have to take back our government and get it to start serving it's people in a humble way.....not serving us up like a wheat for the mill. Register and vote!!! Let me know how YOU feel about it!

Vanishing Middle Class

NEW YORK (CNN) -- I don't know about you, but I can't take seriously anyone who takes either the Republican Party or Democratic Party seriously -- in part because neither party takes you and me seriously; in part because both are bought and paid for by corporate America and special interests. And neither party gives a damn about the middle class.Our country's middle class is not just collateral damage in what has become all-out class warfare. Political, business and academic elites are waging an outright war on working men and women and their families, and there is no chance the American middle class will survive this assault if the dominant forces unleashed over the past five years continue unchecked. What is Happening to the Middle Class?

I think I can speak for allot of middle class America when I say "WE ARE FED UP" Actually beyond fed up. We are being eradicated. The middle class has been drained almost to extinction. Some got out with wise investments before the dot com bust, but most didn't. We work and toil in a world that does not appreciate what we do. The underpinnings of society are coming apart. We have no moral or ethical compass anymore. No one to look up to. No absolute right and wrong, black and white, acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Captains of industry, elected officials, steaIing peoples money and getting away with it. The Enron scandal and before that the banking system collapse. When did this all become acceptable behavior? Did someone change the "Golden Rule" when I wasn't looking?? I am NOT a religious zealot nor a person so involved in self that I don't see anything around me. Priests raping boys, female teachers raping male students, the US is starting to unravel my friends. No one person or group is strong enough it seems to have the will or ability to stop this freight train we call the US from careening out of control to a certain demise. All great society's of the past have died out. What makes you think that "It can't happen again"?? The way I see things going (and this is where I need your feedback and suggestions) is there are going to be the super rich, an elitist group consisting of heads of major corporations, politicians and captains of industry, and then the $10-12 hr wage earners with no job security (Do you even want that at this pay?) and no medical benefits. Do you see this happening too? Do you notice a considerable lack of caring about this situation. Today for example....a discussion about giving a $100 rebate check to people making $125,000 or less!?Excuse me.....$125,000 or less???? What about the mother working at a local college campus, making a salary of $27,000 a year and trying to support a family of 3. She can't leave because there are health benefits that she could not give up nor would she let her family go unprotected.Does she only need a $100 rebate check when her station wagon she drives costs $45 per tank of gas now?? To the people we elect "Are you guys NUTS??"Let's see if we can get a groundswell of one thing that seems to be missing the most these days....COMMON SENSE!!

When is allot of pot too much pot??

Canadian troops fighting Taliban militants in Afghanistan have stumbled across an unexpected and potent enemy -- almost impenetrable forests of marijuana plants 10 feet tall.
General Rick Hillier, chief of the Canadian defense staff, said Thursday that Taliban fighters were using the forests as cover. In response, the crew of at least one armored car had camouflaged their vehicle with marijuana.
"The challenge is that marijuana plants absorb energy, heat very readily. It's very difficult to penetrate with thermal devices. ... And as a result you really have to be careful that the Taliban don't dodge in and out of those marijuana forests," he said in a speech in Ottawa, Canada.
"We tried burning them with white phosphorous -- it didn't work. We tried burning them with diesel -- it didn't work. The plants are so full of water right now ... that we simply couldn't burn them," he said.
Even successful incineration had its drawbacks.
"A couple of brown plants on the edges of some of those [forests] did catch on fire. But a section of soldiers that was downwind from that had some ill effects and decided that was probably not the right course of action," Hiller said dryly.
One soldier told him later: "Sir, three years ago before I joined the army, I never thought I'd say 'That damn marijuana'."

Here's an idea! Maybe we should grow Marijuana all across the United States and then they won't be able to see us......then maybe peace will rain upon us. Personally I think if all the leaders of the world governments sat down together and smoked a few bowls.....there would be ALLOT less aggression. OK I gotta go light up! LOL See you tomorrow!
